Jan Heuvels, the Hong Kong-based international senior partner at Ince, has stepped down six months before his tenure was due to end.

Peter Rogan, senior partner of firm between 2000 and 2008, has been appointed as the interim chair of the board. He will oversee the leadership of the firm, and be involved in appointing a new international senior partner.

The firm did not provide a reason for his premature resignation, Heuvels will “continue to deliver the firm’s strategically important Asia Growth Plan.”

Heuvels specialises in international arbitration and commercial dispute resolution with a focus on mining and construction. He joined Ince in 1993 as a trainee, and was named as the firm’s senior partner in 2015. Last year, he relocated to Hong Kong.

During his time as senior partner, Heuvels oversaw the opening of Ince’s Marseille and Cologne offices. He is also said to have led a push towards increased technology investments.

UK media have reported that Ince saw a dip in revenue in the past year, leading to 32 redundancies in the London office, including seven fee-earners.
