Shipping-focused Singapore law firm Helmsman has recruited disputes expert Maureen Poh as a director from Ince, where she was a partner.
The exit of Poh, who spent nine years at Ince, marks the most recent senior departure from the Singapore office. Since 2018, the firm has lost former managing partner John Simpson and partner Martin Brown to Stephenson Harwood, director Moses Lin to Shook Lin & Bok, director Felicia Tan to TSMP Law Corporation, of counsel Ton van den Bosch to Addleshaw Goddard and former managing partner Devandran Karunakaran.
Poh, who started her career at Rajah & Tann in Singapore, joined Ince in 2011 and became a partner in 2018. Her disputes practice covers shipping, trade and commodities, and energy and offshore markets, and she also does non-contentious work.
Her hire comes as Helmsman is making its presence felt in the region. Recently, the firm entered into a formal association with Hong Kong’s Tang & Co.
Ince currently has three partners in its Singapore office.
