Singapore-based law firm Helmsman has launched new intellectual property (IP) and technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) practice groups with the appointment of Basil Lee as associate director.

Lee, a former partner at Lee & Lee, has extensive experience in IP litigation and TMT regulatory matters, including representing clients in intellectual property and commercial disputes across all levels of Singapore's courts.

One of Lee's notable achievements includes successfully discharging an injunction against the Kaws: Holiday art exhibition, enabling public access to the cultural event.

His expertise spans complex regulations in technology, media, and telecommunications, covering areas such as data protection, consumer rights, and cybersecurity.

"Basil's specialized knowledge and experience in these areas will elevate our offerings," Helmsman said in a statement.

The move signals Helmsman's intent to strengthen its position in the growing IP and TMT sectors in Singapore, a key hub for technology and innovation in Southeast Asia.
