RHTLaw Taylor Wessing has appointed Azman Jaafar, head of the firm’s corporate practice, as deputy managing partner, and also hired a general counsel and a senior foreign counsel.

Jaafar’s practice focuses mainly on energy and resources, and hospitality industries, and he has advised and represented clients in transactions involving mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, mining and oil and gas in Singapore, Indonesia, and the People's Republic of China. He also heads the firm's Indonesia practice and the ASEAN Plus Group.

The firm has also appointed Alvin Chen as general counsel of legal and compliance. Chen has worked as a lawyer in both the public and private sectors and was the chief legal officer and director of the Representation and Law Reform Department of the Law Society of Singapore.

Additionally, the firm has hired Mark Jacobsen as a senior foreign counsel in its corporate practice. Jacobsen, who has had stints with Winston & Strawn, Hogan Lovells and Dewey & LeBoeuf, advises financial institutions, technology companies, funds, and other corporate clients on private and cross-border investments and other corporate/commercial matters.
