CMS has hired Iran and projects specialist Amir Kordvani from Clyde & Co as the head of its Middle East projects team in Dubai. 

Following the opening of the CMS office in Tehran in February this year, Kordvani will also be in charge of the launch of the firm's Iran desk in Dubai, splitting his time between Tehran and Dubai. 

Kordvani has experience in the energy and resources sector, with a particular focus in the development of infrastructure projects. He has worked on matters including advising the Guinean government on a $20 billion Simandou South iron ore project.

His practise also includes advising on various aspects of doing business in Iran including foreign direct investment, private funds, contracts, projects work, licensing, joint ventures, and oil and gas projects.

Kordvani’s appointment takes the number of partners in CMS' Dubai office to five. The firm recently hired finance partner Shakeel Adli from Norton Rose Fulbright to launch its Islamic finance practice in Dubai.
