Indian law firm Luthra and Luthra Law Offices’ banking and finance partner Karan Mitroo is moving to JSA Advocates & Solicitors along with his team of 15 attorneys including three partners, as JSA continues its aggressive expansion that has seen marquee names join the firm since early last year.
Mitroo's arrival adds to the roster of high-profile rainmakers who have joined JSA recently, including Iqbal Khan, and Nisha Kaur Uberoi.
Mitroo will be joined by partners Purvi Dabbiru, Kartikeya Dubey and Ankita Parasar.
Mitroo, who has been at Luthra since 2008, navigating through its various brand shifts, advises clients on foreign and domestic debt financing. His clientele spans a wide range of sectors, including renewables, roads, ports, steel, thermal power, transmission, airports, hospitality, healthcare, and real estate.
His clients include the New Development Bank, Coöperatieve Rabobank U.A., Intesa Sanpaolo S.P.A, Bank of America, Siemens Bank GmbH, DBS Bank, Société Générale, Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Nordic Investment Bank, State Bank of India, PFC Limited, REC Limited, L&T Finance Limited, ICICI Bank, Tata Capital, Aseem Infrastructure, HDFC Bank, Aditya Birla Finance, Virescent (a KKR-backed renewable platform), Engie, GIP (Global Infrastructure Partners), Enel Group, the Adani Group, and Renew Power.
“We are thrilled to welcome Karan and his team to JSA. This move will greatly enhance and consolidate the firm’s existing domain and our market leading position in the BnF and Project Finance practice. We look forward to leveraging Karan’s insights and experience to deliver exceptional value to our clients," said JSA's joint managing partners Amit Kapur and Vivek K. Chandy, in a statement.
Mitroo is JSA’s third partner hire in 2025 following the addition of Trilegal counsel Shringarika Priyadarshini Pritha and IndusLaw partner Pritha Chatterjee as retained partners.
Luthra has seen a string of high-profile partner departures, including real estate pro Vaibhav Suri moving to Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas earlier this year. Luthra also saw the departure of a seven-lawyer capital markets team led by partner Geeta Dhania and Prashaant Vikram Rajput, who joined Economic Laws Practice in August last year.
The Delhi-headquartered firm has made its own group additions as well, hiring a five-member disputes team in Hyderabad from Kings Stubb & Kasiva led by partner Rajeev Rambhatla in September.
Luthra has also been proactively expanding its presence in other South Indian cities, opening a new Chennai office and absorbing a disputes boutique Aishwarya AnanthKumar and Partners in Bengaluru.
