Singapore’s Rajah & Tann has recruited asset finance specialist Paul Ng as the head of its aviation practice. He was most recently the Asia head of aviation at Milbank.

With more than 25 years of experience, Ng advises lenders, leasing companies, borrowers, lessees and arrangers on aviation transactions such as asset-backed bond issuances and aircraft acquisitions. His landmark deals include representing Indonesia’s Lion Air on its $24 billion order for over 230 Airbus aircraft, and Vietnam’s VietJet on its $9 billion purchase of 92 Airbus aircraft and a $800 million order for CFM engines.

Prior to joining Milbank in 2014, Ng was a partner and global head of aviation at Stephenson Harwood. He earlier spent a decade at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

Ng’s move comes at a time when law firms across Asia have been adding aviation partners in response to post-COVID aviation demand. Recent examples include hires by Trilegal of Milanka Chaudhury in Delhi and AZB & Partners of Sarah Jayne Rufus in Mumbai from Indian airline IndiGo.
